Roger Carter

The driest of dry topics can be made fun and interesting if you just open your mind and take a risk or two.

Roger Carter is currently a teacher in the School of Business and Information Technology at Southbank Institute of Technology in the area of Human Resources.

He has considerable experience as an outdoor educator delivering adventure based programmes to TAFE/secondary students, special education students, youth at risk and work based programmes for the workplace including workers, line managers and senior leaders.

For the past 25 years Roger has used games and problem solving group based activities to stimulate the learning environment and energise his groups. Over the years he has learnt that fun and games crosses all hierarchical, cultural and age barriers and is always amazed some of the crazy things people do when given the ‘freedom’ in a safe environment.

Roger believes that there’s no such thing as a boring topic – the driest of dry topics can be made fun and interesting if you just open your mind and take a risk or two.

The ‘Energise, Excite and Engage’ workshop is guaranteed to provide you with many ideas and games that you can utilise with your own training and development groups.

During the full on one day workshop Roger will:

  • Discuss the risk management issues
  • Discuss the concept of ‘serious fun’
  • Demonstrate how to teach on the run ‘fly by the seat of your pants’
  • Provide you with a simple model to de-brief your activities
  • Provide you with low cost/low prop games
  • Provide a basis on how to ‘invent’ your own games
  • And depending on the dynamics of the groups, much more….
